Caffeine can have a negative effect when over consumed as a drink, though moderate caffeine intake in the form of coffee has show to have some health benefits when drank as part of a daily diet. Of course, adding sugar and creamer negates the positive effects and you'd never be able to drink enough to get the benefits you can from a coffee scrub for your skin and other ailments.
It's hard to believe but coffee is one of the richest forms of antioxidants we have in our natural world. Antioxidants are chemicals both natural and man made that prevent or slow cell damage. Cell damage is what causes aging.
Coffee reduces puffiness and inflammation and when used around the eyes it can help reduce those under eye bags. You'll need to use a formula safe for the face, our body scrub is far too rough for that tender skin but if you allow our sugar based scrub to melt in a bit of hot water and then apply it will help greatly with that morning puff.
Caffeine helps fight cellulite by dehydrating fatty cells. That is why it is blended with oils to make sure your skin itself isn't left dry but nourished.
Fractionated Coconut Oil is the oil we use exclusively at Black Label USA, it is more costly than standard Coconut Oil but it is a much better oil for your skin. Fractionated Coconut Oil is more shelf stable than it's counterparts and a superior emollient that is beneficial for all skin types. It moisturizes with no oily sheen and absorbs quickly making it less slippery in the shower! Unlike traditional coconut oil which becomes solid at room temperature, fractionated coconut oil will not clog pores or leave skin feeling greasy and it won't clog your drain!
Should I choose Sugar or Salt based scrubs?
Each has their own unique features sugar is a natural source of glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that penetrates the skin and breaks down the “glue” that bonds skin cells, encouraging cell turnover and generating fresher, younger-looking skin. Glycolic acid is typically used to treat sun-damaged and aging skin.
We use a blend of Coconut Sugar and Turbinado or Raw Sugar. Coconut Sugar is minimally processed and contains 16 amino acids that work to minimize sagging skin, discoloration and wrinkles, when combined with coffee it is a powerhouse of good natural skin nourishment.
We also use Turbinado Sugar because it has a larger grain and helps with heavy exfoliation on those problem areas...we see you heels and elbows!
Sugar is a natural humectant, meaning it draws moisture from the environment into the skin. So when you apply products with sugar or sugar derivatives, they’ll actually help hydrate your skin and keep moisture within. Because of the large grain of the Turbinado Sugar we do not recommend this scrub to be used on the face dry. You can soften it in a bit of warm water into a paste before applying to your face to melt some of the larger grains that might be too scratchy for sensitive facial skin or look out for our upcoming facial blend instead.
Our salt based scrubs have a proprietary blend of fine grain Dead Sea Salt and larger grain Epsom Salt to get the best skin softening and exfoliation possible. Dead Sea Salt contains 21 naturally occurring minerals that detoxify the body.
Epsom Salt is good for your skin as well helping to improve muscle function, treat sore muscles and increase energy plus lower irritability and help you sleep. Because of the large grain of the Epsom Salt we do not recommend this scrub to be used on the face.
There are countless brands of coffee scrubs online and DIY scrub recipes but none use the ingredients and special blend that we do here at Black Label USA.
